Our clients have come to expect superior quality linen and exceptional service from Linen Hire Solutions and, in order to protect our reputation and the interests of our future clients, we place a high value on quality and exercise a meticulous attention to detail when processing returned goods:

  • Damaged items will be charged at replacement cost
  • Shortages will be charged at replacement cost
  • Items damaged by pinning, tagging or stapling will be charged at replacement cost
  • Linen with mildew damage will be charged at replacement cost
  • Badly soiled linen will be charged at a special cleaning rate
  • Candle-wax and Prestik removal will be charged at special cleaning rates
  • Please do not wash or iron our linen at any time
  • Linen must be returned in a dry condition
  • All items must be returned by the agreed date
  • An additional hiring fee will be charged for late returns

1. Hire of equipment
Linen Hire Solutions [“LHS”] hires to the customer the equipment described (“the equipment”) under the terms set out in these General Conditions of Hire. The parties choose their respective domicilium citandi et executandi as indicated.
2. Quotations, deposits and hire charges
2.1 All quotations are valid for 7 days from date of quotation. To secure the booking, a non-refundable, confirming deposit of 50% of the hire charge is to be paid in advance and the balance, together with a refundable shortage deposit, to be paid on or before delivery.
2.2 The hire charge and shortage deposit are payable in cash on or before delivery unless otherwise agreed. The shortage deposit, less any amount due, shall be refunded to the customer within a reasonable period of the date of return or collection of the equipment.
2.3 The customer shall be deemed to have accepted the correctness of any account, unless LHS is notified in writing of any queries or discrepancies within 3 days of date of account.
2.4 Any deposit paid in advance to secure a booking shall be forfeited if the booking is cancelled less than 30 days prior to the reserved date.
3. Period
3.1 The hire period shall commence when the equipment is delivered or collected, as the case may be, and subject to clause 9, shall end when LHS accepts return of the equipment.
3.2 LHS shall take all reasonable measures to ensure that the equipment is delivered to, or is available for collection by, the customer at the agreed time, but shall not be liable should the equipment not be delivered, or not be available, at such time.
3.3 Should the equipment not be returned to, or not be available for collection by, LHS at the agreed time of return or collection, the customer shall be charged an additional hire charge at the applicable rate until such time as the equipment is either returned to, or collected by, LHS as the case may be, in addition to a travelling charge at LHS’s standard rates should LHS collect the equipment
4. Equipment
4.1 The equipment shall be deemed to be in the quantity stated, and in accordance with the description stated, and in good order and repair, and for the purpose intended, when delivered to the customer, unless the customer notifies LHS or its authorised representative forthwith on delivery of any deficiency in quantity, or of any defective or incorrectly delivered equipment.
4.2 LHS shall, in its sole discretion, be entitled to terminate this agreement and refund the deposit and any hire charges paid, or replace defective or incorrectly delivered equipment, or remedy any defects in the delivered equipment.
5. Maintenance and return of equipment
5.1 The customer shall:
5.1.1 at all times during the hire period, provide dry, under cover storage until such time as the equipment is returned to LHS; and
5.1.2 immediately notify LHS should any of the equipment malfunction. LHS shall repair or replace the equipment at own cost at LHS’s principal place of business unless LHS, in its sole discretion, determines that the malfunction is due to improper use of the equipment; and
5.1.3 return the equipment in a clean state and in good order and repair, in particular, but without limitation all equipment (with the exception of tablecloths, furniture and marquees) must be washed and dried. Any equipment returned unwashed will be charged for at a rate determined by LHS.
5.2 In the event that any of the equipment is lost, destroyed or damaged, due to any cause whatsoever, prior to the return thereof, the customer shall be liable for the full replacement cost thereof.
5.3 The customer shall not be entitled to substitute any other equipment for LHS’s equipment.
5.4 Notwithstanding clause 2.2 above, upon the return or collection of equipment, unless the customer physically confirms the quantity and condition thereof with a representative of LHS, LHS’s assessment of the quantity and condition of the returned or collected equipment shall be final and binding on the customer.
6. Use of equipment
The customer:
6.1 acknowledges that the customer is aware of the purpose for which the equipment is intended, and shall not use the equipment for any other purpose; and
6.2 shall use the equipment at own risk, and indemnifies LHS against any claim of any nature brought against it by the customer’s employees, agents, representative, guests or any other third parties arising out of the use of the equipment by the customer, while in the possession of the customer, or any other cause including a claim for consequential damages and loss of profit, and all costs and expenses incurred by LHS on an attorney and own client scale in defending or settling such proceedings; and
6.3 shall have no claim of any nature against LHS for any loss suffered, or for damages sustained, by the customer arising from any cause, including without limitation, the installation, use or malfunction of the equipment, or pertaining to the provisions of these General Conditions of Hire, other that the specific remedies provided for herein.
7. No Warranties
LHS furnishes no warranties and makes no representations other than those contained herein. The provisions of these General Conditions of Hire shall govern the relationship of the parties to the exclusion of all other conditions, whether implied by law or stipulated by the customer, unless any variation thereof is accepted in writing by LHS.
8. Access
LHS shall at all reasonable times be entitled to have access to any premises of the customer for the purpose of inspecting or repairing the equipment.
9. Breach
9.1 LHS shall be entitled to terminate this agreement forthwith and enter any premises of the customer and retake possession of the equipment in the event that the customer:
9.1.1 fails to comply with any obligations imposed on the customer in terms hereof, all of which terms are deemed to be material, on due date, and persists in such failure for 3 days after having been given written notice to remedy such default; or
9.1.2 commits any act of insolvency, or is in liquidation or under sequestration, whether provisional or final, or is placed under judicial management.
9.2 The Specific remedies which LHS has against the customer in terms of these General Conditions of Hire are without prejudice to any other remedies which LHS may have, including the right to claim all such consequential damages as LHS may have suffered as a result of the breach by the customer of any of the customer’s obligations.
9.3 LHS’s liability to the customer, and all persons claiming under the customer, arising from any cause whatsoever, including the willful default or negligence of LHS, its employees or agents, shall be limited to the specific remedies provided for herein.
10. Miscellaneous
10.1 The customer consents to the jurisdiction of the Magistrates Court of the district in which the customer is domiciled in respect of this agreement.
10.2 The customer shall be liable for LHS’s legal costs on an attorney and own client scale as incurred by LHS in any legal proceedings arising out of the provisions of the General Conditions of Hire, or arising out of the customer’s use or possession of the equipment.
10.3 LHS shall be entitled to apply any amount received from the customer to the liquidation in whole or part, of any obligation, whether arising out of this hire or as is otherwise owed by the customer to LHS, irrespective of whether the final amount of the obligation has been determined.
